Dr. Gopakumar V serves as the University Librarian and holds the position of Head of the Knowledge Centre at the Digital University of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Kerala. Before this, he held the esteemed roles of University Librarian and Head of the Department of Library and Information Science at Goa University. Dr Gopakumar has significantly contributed to the academic landscape as an academic council member and as the chairman of the Board of Studies in the Library and Information Science department at Goa University.
With an extensive professional journey spanning 41 years, Dr. Gopakumar has dedicated 26 years of his career to various colleges in Kerala. His educational journey includes a PhD earned from Mangalore University, following his initial academic pursuits with a BSc in Botany and an MLISc (Library and Information Science).
Dr. Gopakumar V possesses a wealth of expertise in diverse library-related software and Digital Content Development software. He is well-versed in software applications pertaining to academia, digital content creation, and data visualization. Notably, he has developed various types of digital content and has conducted classes on content development during RefresherCourses at U.G.C., H.R.D.C.s of several universities.
A mentor and guide in the academic realm, Dr. Gopakumar has successfully supervised and guided five scholars in achieving their Doctor of Philosophy degrees. His scholarly contributions include 27 research articles and the authorship of three books. Additionally, he was involved in translating two novels originally written in Kannada by Dr. Shivarama Karanth into Malayalam. Dr. Gopakumar\'s commitment to knowledge dissemination extends to organizing workshops, refresher courses, and three international conferences: CALIBER 2011, LibraryTechnology Conclave, and iKOAL 2018. His multifaceted contributions have left a lasting impact on the fields of librarianship, information science, and academic research. Recently he was elected to the Director Board of DELNET, Developing Library Network.
