Prof K. J. Joseph is currently the Director, Gulati Institute of Finance and taxation (GIFT), Secretary General of Globelics, a global Network of Innovation scholars from over 80 countries and the Founding Editor-in-Chief of Innovation and Development published by Taylor and Francis (London), https://www.tandfonline.com/toc/riad20/current  and Kerala Economy Published by GIFT

With over 33 years of research and teaching experience,  earlier positions that he held included

·       Ford Foundation Post-Doctoral Fellow at Yale university,

·       Ministry of Commerce Chair Professor at Centre for Development Studies (CDS),

·       Visiting Senior Fellow at RIS, New Delhi,

·       Professor, Centre for Studies in Science Policy  (JNU),

·       IT Policy Consultant of UNESCAP for Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, Thailand and the Yunnan Province of China,

·       Expert in Innovation studies at Tianjin University of Finance and Economics, China, selected under the program of search for global experts.

·       He has also been a Consultant to UNCTAD and WTO

 

Gold Medallist of the Calicut University for MA Economics, he earned M Phil and Ph D Degrees from Jawaharlal Nehru University (CDS) and undertook post-doctoral research at Yale University.

His areas of expertise include, Public finance and taxation,  science technology and innovation for development with focus on information technology, industry studies especially electronics; FDI, trade, globalization and WTO, regional development with focus on Kerala economy and natural resource based development with focus on plantation agriculture.

He has published over 90 research papers and a number of policy-oriented reports along with 8 books published by five leading international publishers (Sage publications, Oxford University Press, Palgrave Macmillan, Routledge and Edward Elgar).

He has delivered invited lectures, keynote addresses and presented papers in over 90 seminars/conferences held in 35 countries and over 200 seminars/workshops/conference in India.

He has been a member of 1).Committee of Direction and Governing Body of CDS, 2). Steering Committee of India-EU Cooperation in S&T, 3). Review Committee of HSRC, South Africa, 4). Indo-Japan Committee of Social Sciences and Humanities, 5) Advisory Board Member NSTMIS, Department of Science and Technology Govt of India 6) Scientific Board Member of Globelics and different expert committees appointed by the Government of India and Government of Kerala, including the Co-Chairman of 13th and 14th Five Year  Plan Working Groups of Kerala State Planning Board. 

He serves as the Editorial Board member of International Journal of 1. Technological Learning Innovation and development (Inter-science Publishers); 2. Economies; African Journal of Science, Technology, Innovation and Development (Routledge Taylor & Francis); 3. Millennial Asia, (Sage Publications).
